DUMPING CHILDREN DEVELOPMENT

BARNALY has been working with dumping (Tokai) children development from 2007. There are 10 children who are members of BARNALY who are going to be empowered.

BARNALY started an Adolescent Development Program: Shonglap – Kishore Bikash Program with the partnership of CODEC-Strommy Foundation since June 2007 which was financially supported by Strommy Foundation, Norway. At present BARNALY is operating its activities through 20 different Shonglap Centers at Kolargaon, Lakhera, Nolanda, Sattaroya, Chapodi and Dipkalamodol villages of Patia Upazila under Chittagong District. The target group of this program is adolescent girls aged between 11-19 years. Whereas, the stakeholders of this program are parents, community leaders, religious leaders, local government, service provided organization and different institutions. This program has three basic steps and these are awareness, literacy & IGA training.
Goal
To develop adolescent girls by awareness on social & health issues, literacy and life skill development through IGA training.
Objectives
- To build up awareness among targeted adolescent girls on social issues.
- To increase awareness on primary and reproductive health.
- To increase the literacy skill.
- To develop Life Skill among adolescent girls defined by World Health Organization and
- To engage targeted adolescent girls in self-employment activities through IGA training.
Achievements
- All adolescents follow the rules and regulations of primary health care and they also try to Clean their surrounding environment.
- Adolescents know about the different kinds of disease. They aware their family members and The villagers about immunization.
- They use pure drinking water for drinking and other household activities.
- They increase awareness of the sanitation system in their surrounding areas.
- They raise their voice to protect violence against girls with the help of the local community.
- All of the adolescent girls of shonglap centre are literate.
- Most of the adolescents are successfully overcome different barriers from family, neighbor and society.
- They increase awareness in different issues by arranging drama through their cultural team
- After getting different kinds of IGA training like sewing, mushrooms cultivation, bag making, block & boutiques they are trying to increase their family income.
