Non- Communicable Diseases – NCDs

 

Project Title:  Reducing various risk factors of NCDs through Civil Society involvement and Capacity building.

Background :

Non- Communicable Diseases (NCDs) means a large group of diseases. Not communicable to Person to Person. It is a chronic disease. NCDs is a long lasting disease and progress is slowly.  This disease’s complex interaction of – 1. Genetic 2. Physiological. 3. Behavioral & 4. Environmental. NCDs is broad and diverse group of diseases which is many different types, 4 main type diseases for 80% of deaths  – Example – Cancer, Diabetes, Chronic Respiratory disease , Cardiovascular Diseases, In addition- Mental health Diseases, Chronic kidney Diseases, Musculoskeletal disease etc.

NCDs (Non- Communicable Diseases) are a major problem all over the world. Every year 41 million people die in the world due to these NCDs. In between 71% all deaths in the low and middle income countries people.   NCDs and Poverty are inter- related risk factors of NCDs.

Types of NCDs –

There are two types of NCDs risk factors. One is Non – modifiable and the other is Modifiable.

  • Non – Modifiable which can’t be changed by an individual Example – Age, Sex, Genetic makeup.
  • Modifiable which can be changed. There are 4 (Four) important modifiable risk factors –
      1. Smoking.
      2. Physical activity.
      3. Poor Nutrition 4. Harmful Use of Alcohol.

All these causes High Blood Pressure, Increased Glucose, High Lipids etc. 

Activates for Prevention

Various actions can be done for modifiable risk factors, Such as Education Sensation camping programs, Media Campaigns, Eliminating, Trans- fats, advertising bands, limiting access, increasing taxes, promoting physical activities in health care, and effective management of diseases. 

Besides regular orientation will be given to the Grassroots community in the working area, Religious leaders, Village Chairman- Members and Leaders, Governments officials, School Teachers, others stakeholders on their role in Prevent the risk factors of NCDs. Moreover, by sharing experience with like-minded NGOs  and civil society  making a joint network with them, The Network  will play a  role to prevent risk factors of NCDs. through various campaigns: Courtyard meeting , miking , discussion, Day campaign , rally, meeting and shear with others stakeholders etc. These activities will contribute to the Prevention risk factors of NCDs.
